Libre is a new flagship floral-fougère-oriental fragrance for women, created in 2019 by perfumers Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim for the renowned French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent. It is a long-awaited alternative to the iconic Opium fragrance, which YSL has been releasing in various variations for over 40 years. The bouquet of this new fragrance includes fougère elements (usually found in men's fragrances), and the balance between lavender, woody notes, and the sweetness of orange blossom makes it equally suitable for both men and women. The fragrance pyramid opens with notes of mandarin, lavender, blackcurrant, and petitgrain. The heart features accords of jasmine, orange blossom, and lavender oil. The fragrance concludes with a base note of Madagascar vanilla, white cedar, amber, and musk. The face of the fragrance is British singer and model Dua Lipa. The perfume is housed in a simple rectangular bottle with a black asymmetrical cap adorned with gold chain-like inlay.
