Hermann a Mes Cotes Me Paraissait Un Ombre is an oriental unisex perfume with a unique name and an equally unusual sound, featuring intriguing fougère-spicy accents, released by the French niche perfume brand Etat Libre d'Orange. Perfumer Quentin Bichet was inspired by a little-known poem by Victor Hugo, in which two horsemen in a forest reflect on life and death, the past and the future. And if you don't have someone to talk to, the perfume suggests using your shadow as one. After all, a conversation partner doesn't necessarily have to speak. The composition features the delicate, slightly spicy freshness of blackcurrant buds, the scent of galbanum leaves, and warm notes of fertile soil. Spicy hints of black pepper are woven into smoky, aromatic accents of incense and are set off by the velvety, honeyed scent of a regal rose. The silky-spicy scent of patchouli leaves intertwines with the spicy-woody notes of pepperwood and literally dissolves in the aura of three synthetic molecules calypsone, petalia and ambroxan, giving the composition a special, almost mystical sound.
