Acqua di Parma is an Italian perfume brand founded by Baron Carlo Magnani in 1916. Since 2001, the brand has been part of the LVMH corporation, and its head office is located in Milan. Magnani is called the creator of the first Italian cologne: the Colonia fragrance, released in 1916, was successful both in Italy and abroad, and the perfume of the same name, presented in 1930, attracted the attention of Hollywood stars to the brand: Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner and others. The brand's popularity peaked in the 1950s, but after that its activity began to fade. In 1993, the rights to produce the brand's products were acquired by the owner of Tod's Diego Della Valle, former Ferrari functionary Luca Cordero di Montezemolo and the majority shareholder of La Perla Paolo Borgomanero. In 1998, the company opened its first mono-brand boutique in Milan, and in 1999, two years before the deal with LVMH, launched the Blu Mediterraneo line. In 2003, the parties signed the final agreement; LVMH became the full owner of the business and launched the Colonia Assoluta fragrance (a modern version of the brand's original cologne), as well as a line of products for hotels. The brand chose its signature colors (yellow, white and black) in tribute to the shades of Parma architecture. In 2004, the brand presented the first composition of the future Le Nobili line - Iris Nobile. In 2005, LVMH management relaunched the Blu Mediterraneo line, changing the assortment (15 products instead of 50) and the appearance of the products. The updated version included the Mandorlo di Sicilia, Arancia di Capri and Cipresso di Toscana fragrances. Two years later, Colonia Intensa joins the brand’s range; in parallel, the brand develops the Blu Mediterraneo and Le Nobili lines. In May 2008, the company opens its own wellness club in Porto Cervo (Sardinia), and a year later presents the updated Acqua di Parma Profumo in eau de parfum concentration. In 2012, the brand launches a new Colonia Intensa collection, which it will continue to develop over the next few years, and a year later publishes the book “The Nobility of Labor,” dedicated to the Italian culture of handicrafts and illustrated with photographs by photographer Giovanni Gastel. Acqua di Parma welcomes 2015 with the launch of Club, a modern version of the classic Italian cologne in a new green bottle for the brand, and in 2016 it presents the Note di Colonia collection and a limited edition of the original fragrance in honor of the brand's 100th anniversary, after which it concentrates on expanding existing collections, but in 2019 it presents two new series: Le Nobili hair mists and the Signatures of the Sun collection.
