Floraïku is a French niche brand from Memo Paris founders Clara and John Molloy. While traveling through Japan, they were deeply impressed by the atmosphere around them and decided to dedicate a fragrance to Asia. However, there were so many memories from the trip that the creators decided to launch a separate perfume project. The name of the brand is a combination of "haiku", a genre of Japanese poetry, and "flower". The debut works were released in 2017; the authors were Sophie Labbé and Aliénor Massenet. The lines of the main collection are built around three classical Japanese arts: sadō, kōdō, and ikebana. The Secret Teas and Spices series is inspired by sadō, the tradition of the tea ceremony, and includes the fragrances One Umbrella for Two, The Moon and I, and I Am Coming Home. In 2018, the ranks were replenished with the woody composition The Mountain Standing Still, revealing saffron, oud, and tea accord. Forbidden Incense is about kodo, the art of matching a poetic fragment with a scent that best captures the atmosphere of the verse. The series includes My Love Has the Colour of the Night, My Shadow on the Wall, In the Dark, In the Rain, Ao, and Sound of a Ricochet; each work is accompanied by a tercet. Engimatic Flowers was inspired by ikebana, the art of combining plants and flowers. The line initially included I See the Clouds Go By, Cricket Song, and First Dream of the Year, later joined by Flowers Turn Purple, Just a Rose, and I Am Not A Flower. The 2020 novelty This July Evening is among the brand's latest releases to date.
