Les Contes is a French brand of niche perfumes. Its history began in the late 19th century in the city of Limoges, when Philippe Leblanc, a teenager from a poor family, got a job at the local porcelain manufactory Haviland. He was good at drawing, which was noticed by the factory management, and soon Leblanc received his first order to design a bottle of perfume for Parisian couturier Jeanne Paquin. During the First World War, Leblanc emigrated to Canada, where he began creating original sketches for the jeweler Pascal Ratier. In 1919, he headed a small jewelry workshop, and after the war, he moved the enterprise to France. The following decades, the brand produced jewelry and porcelain. In 1979, the company began creating personalized fragrances for individual orders, and in 2010, it launched commercial production. The brand's debut perfume releases include the women's compositions Pour Femme, Bois Enchante and Ariadna and the men's Pour Homme, Tesey and Magus. In 2014, the brand released Néride, a fruity fragrance with a woody accord, and a year later, as part of the Gourmand collection, the new Elfe Noir was introduced, revealing notes of dark chocolate, cocoa and jasmine. Subsequently, the line was supplemented with floral waters Elfe Blanc and Elfe Rouge, as well as musky Elfe d'Or, which, along with the oriental composition Padischah, was released in 2019.
